Week 2: Living the Dream 2023

Tonight, marks the end of Week 2 and it’s been an unbelievable week of beautiful weather, extraordinary activities, and happy campers!

Monday was our first late sleep and special event day of the summer! The girls spent the morning with their big and little sisters playing Capture the Flag and enjoying a general swim while the boys spent time with their big and little brothers in a 2-on-2 basketball tournament and Oval games along with their own time in the water. The afternoon event was a Sports-a-Rama Apache Relay which ended in a photo finish by the Huskies!

Tuesday was the 4th of July!! The 4th grade girls went to Romaca for a kickball tournament! We had a normal program morning followed by our annual Red, White, and Blue Day afternoon. There were water relays, steal the bandana, slip n’ slide kickball, sponge dodgeball, and the TICS and Waiters participated in their marquee event called Chaos…crack an egg on their head, catch a tennis ball dipped in chocolate sauce, dig for pennies in oatmeal, bathe in an ice bath, and slip n’ slide were all part of this gross but amazingly fun relay race! The day concluded with dancing to our favorite Tom Carroll, a mainstay at Watitoh since 1991, playing cover songs in the Social Hall!

ROYGBV- Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday Rainbow Day on Girls Camp! Each bunk was assigned a color and together, they made the rainbow! It was also a busy day for Intercamps! The 5th grade boys played flag football at Greylock while the 7th grade boys played basketball at Lenox. Thirty of our girls boarded buses for the famous Romaca Swim meet where we placed 3rd overall out of six camps! Wednesday night was Boys and Girls separates. The Boys had their annual Belly Flop Contest. A huge congrats to Hudson for the big win!! The girls dressed in all black for their favorite game of Hunt the Counselor. Congrats to Cayuga for getting the most points!

Thursday was another busy day of Intercamps. The 6th grade boys played basketball at Greylock while the 8th grade boys played soccer at Winadu and the 10th grade girls played basketball at Lenox. Thursday night was our first Big/Little Brother/Sister Hobby Night! Campers signed up with their Big and Little to participate in crazy hobbies: a Tough Mudder, an Egg Drop contest, Hair braiding, Fashion Design, Giant Twister, Irish Dance, an Escape Room, and more. The night was awesome and ended with our favorite MYOS (Make Your Own Sundaes) for dessert!

Today was another beautiful day on Center Lake! Campers are loving all of the sunshine and we’re making sure to stay hydrated in the Berkshire heat! The 4th grade boys played basketball at Lenox while a mixed age of boys participated in a tennis tournament at Greylock. They love taking the boat to those intercamps! Tonight’s evening activity was our weekly campfire where we enjoyed wonderful, skits, repeat-after-me songs, a preview of tomorrow’s show, and other unique performances. As always, we read a favorite bedtime story: How Full is Your Bucket? before eating our yummy s’mores!

Tomorrow night is our first musical of the summer, Honk Jr.! We cannot wait to see our Junior campers perform. They’ve been working so hard the last two weeks and Becca (Drama Director) is so proud of all of them! Check out the photos on Sunday!

Next week is full of some amazing activities: Dream Day tomorrow, British Empire Day for the Girls on Sunday, Birthday Banquet and Silent DJ on Tuesday (no evening phone calls), Separates on Wednesday, and the best night of all, our traditional camp SING on Friday night! We are excited to welcome all of you to camp on Saturday for our first Visiting Day in FOUR years! Please be on the lookout for more information that will land in your inboxes this weekend.
